How to get an agent ?

When you are trying to enter in the entertainment field you should strongly think about getting an agent. This person will help you to find your place between all those professionals, to improve your creative skill and to warn you about specific details as well. However, it is not as simple as it seems.

First of all, an agent may accept to represent an actor/actress only if he/she has already experiences and enough materials to sell her image for castings. This part is your job at the beginning of your career, it is tough and hard but if you want to do this career you don't have to feel that way.

After that, you need to prepare a file where we can find your resume ( your experiences, your skills, your contact, your objective, education ... ), your motivation letter, your reels and headshots. This is essential to demonstrate to your agent that you are capable and willing to put the time and work into finding different opportunities.

Networking:

Talking with people that are already in the field is very important since they may speak to other people about you. Networking is crucial, your objective is to meet a lot of people in order to create your contact list that will help you a lot in your career.

This is always a way to find an agent.

Online:

Nowadays, our generation is lucky to be able to find a lot of opportunities online, to create their profiles on diverse platform such as Backstage, Actor Access, LA Castings, Casting Network... This may also be the possibility for you to be found by an agent on those websites. After that, he will contact you to schedule an appointment. Be ready, professional and determined !

Moreover, you also have another method which is sending emails over and over again. This is a long and boring method but it may work and the result may surprise you. Of course, you will need to write properly your motivation letter, resume and be ready to have a callback. It may take several weeks or months before getting one callback. Be patient, the job you want to do is not easy !

Social media:

As you might be aware, social media is one of the most known ways to get views on you profiles and may provide you the opportunity to be one day call by someone who will change your life. Hence, it is crucial for a beginner actor or actress to cultivate an active social media with your experiences, your pictures ( not private: I will suggest to create two different Instagram profiles, one private another public only for your career). However, don't wait for an email or call without doing nothing except on working on your Instagram profile. It may work but unfortunately the chance is minimal.
